Am Anfang war Italo-Disco. Schon seit Ewigkeiten befreundet und auf der Suche nach Musik, die den anderen beeindruckt, war es erst die Discomusik vom Stiefel, die Conrad, Philipp und Lars in die elektronischen Musik einführte. Noch völlig benebelt von den verführerischen Synthesizern nannten sie sich flugs The Moroders und kürzten ihre Vornamen bis auf den einzig wichtigen Anfangsbuchstaben. Seitdem kümmert sich L Moroder um die visuelle Außendarstellung, während C und P Moroder an den Plattentellern stehen.
Und die Lust am Entdecken guter Musik ist auch in den Sets von den Moroders nach wie vor spürbar. Immer bemüht elektronische Musik nicht nur mit Detroit- und Chicago-Parametern zu erklären, ist cleverer House und Disco-Tech doch die Basis in den Sets. Dass Platten ausschließlich nach Genres eingekauft werden, haben die beiden allerdings noch nie verstanden. Deshalb kann ein Dubstep-Track genauso mitspielen wie eine vergessene, polnische Funk-Perle. Prinzipien, die auch ihre Mixe zu etwas nicht ganz Alltäglichem machen.
Spielwiesen sind die Cosmic Dancer-Partys in ihrer Geburtsstadt Dresden, zu denen sie seit 2006 ihre Lieblingskünstler wie Todd Terje, Mr Raoul K oder Runaway einladen und ihr Blog www.themoroders.com. Aber auch als Gastgeber der Radioshow Cosmic Listener beim freien Sender coloRadio und als Teil des Uncanny Valley-Kollektivs sind sie fester Bestandteil der Dresdner Musikszene.

In the beginning it was Italo Disco that introduced long-term friends Conrad, Philipp and Lars to electronic music. Muddled by the sight of seductive synthesizers they quickly called themselves The Moroders and shortened their christian names to just their initials. Since then L Moroder has taken care of the visual appearance while C and P man the record players.
A DJ-set by The Moroders is always informed by an unruly appetite to discover good music. Always willing to convey electronic music not only in line with obvious Detroit and Chicago parameters, it is mostly canny House and Disco-Tech that forms the basis of their sets. It has never really occurred to them that records are purchased according to genres. Therefore it is no surprise to find them incorporating a Dubstep track as well as a long a forgotten polish funk-gem, a principle that also renders their mixes to something special and less common.
As residents and bookers of their bimonthly club night Cosmic Dancer that was established in 2006 they invite their favourite artists such as Todd Terje, Mr Raoul K and Runaway to their beloved home town. They also run a blog at www.themoroders.com and host a monthly radio show at the independent radio station coloRadio in Dresden. Recently, they have become founding members of the Uncally Valley collective and further established themselves as an integral part of Dresden’s electronic music scene.
