Jacob Stoy’s video for his Track “S51″ is a tribute to the moped “Simson S51″ which was produced in the German Democratic Republic from 1980 to 1991.
Since Jacob was never lucky enough to have his own S51 he has to content himself with dreams about riding along long highways, crawling up steep hills and bombing through muddy puddles.

But which boy hasn’t been dreaming about this too?

Echology presents his jazz project

In 2011 Echology was featured on our first Uncanny Valley Ltd, now he teams up with the electronica artist Noize Creator and the drummer Jan Bartholdt to perform as Orkester Kubiczek. On 8th May the group plays their first live gig at Altes Wettbüro, Dresden.

Den Auftakt dieser neuen Veranstaltungsreihe im Alten Wettbüro gab es bereits im März diesen Jahres zu erleben. Das Zusammenspiel von akustischen Instrumenten und elektronischer Musik mit viel Freiraum zur Improvisation. Eine Vermischung beider Ebenen. Offenes Ende. Improvisation. Kommunikation. Fähigkeit. Jazz!? Messing spiegelt genau diese Symbiose von Live Musik und Elektronik wider und ist zugleich der Start eines neuen Kapitels für die 4 Musiker und sowie Dresden’s Elektronik- Szene. Messing besteht aus den Musikern André Obermüller, Jan Bartholdt (beide bekannt als mKono) und den Elektroniktüftlern Kay Pischang aka Enzym und Veranstalter Stefan Senf aka Noize Creator. Den Abend eröffnen werden jedoch die Herren von Orkester Kubiczek. Hinter dem im ersten Moment ungewöhnlich anmutendem Namen des erst im letzten Jahr ins Leben gerufenen Projektes verbergen sich die Dresdner Elektronik Produzenten Echology und Noize Creator. Auch wenn die musikalische Herkunft beider Acts nicht unterschiedlicher sein könnte, besteht eine direkte Verbindung und eine Zusammenarbeit war unabdingbar. Perfekt ausbalancierte Tonfolgen und chirugisch präzise Rhythmen treffen aufeinander. Keinesfalls Weltuntergangsmusik, dennoch Genreüberschreitend und die jeweiligen Grenzen ausreizend, werden beim Zusammenspiel beider Künstler neue orchestrale Welten erschlossen.

The tenth release from Dresden’s Uncanny Valley collective feels like a nice summation of the label’s work to date. Roughly it’s deep house, but deep house that bites its thumb at anything too customary. “Kill Bill$,” for example, swaggers along with what sounds like a massive pair of scissors repeatedly opening and closing. (It’s groovy, promise.) They glisten brightly against the more muddled chug of the bottom-end and make for something nicely unsettling. Steve Kasper’s “Unvexed Dub,” meanwhile, actually sounds quite vexed, mutating restlessly through a number of states from deep and airy to stoned and dubwise with some freewheeling harmonics sandwiched somewhere in the middle.

A grumbling 303 forms the backbone of “S51,” with trilling keys and pixelated synths crashing in ever-increasing waves. Unexpected is the voice that repeats “I’m sure you’ll find this amusing, but I’m afraid of the dark,” and so is the presence of such bright and optimistic melodies despite the devilish acid bubbles below. The surprises don’t end there, though, because who’d have thought C-Beams member Sandrow M’s mysterious and radiant deep house groove “The Three Tress” would sound so good with a fractured garage vocal somewhere up top? Not me, but that’s what Uncanny Valley do best—familiar things in unfamiliar ways.

We printed new Uncanny Valley stickers with our friends from Stickma. They carry the cover artwork of the Uncanny Valley compilation #010, designed by Paul Waak. They are very useful for pasting over stickers of your fallen youth football heroes our your own school grunge band.

If you want some of these stickers, just ask a UV act when playing in your town. Otherwise go to our favourite record shop in Dresden, Berlin, Munich or Hamburg.

Wir haben gemeinsam mit unseren Freunden von Stickma neue Uncanny Valley Aufkleber drucken lassen. Das Motiv der Aufkleber ist das Cover unseren neuen Compilation #010 welches von Paul Waak entwurfen wurde. Die Sticker glänzen durch ihre vielseitigen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten weshalb wir auf eure Kreativität spekulieren. Über Zusendungen freuen wir uns immer.

Catalogue number ten at Uncanny Valley and for this occasion the Dresden based label returns to its roots with another Various Artists EP. Actually, this is long overdue since there are a lot more talented producers to find in the Elbe Valley. On Uncanny Valley 010 we present four of them.

Sandrow M who focussed on the C-Beams project recently has been part of the label right from the start. With “The Three Trees” he makes his solo debut for Uncanny Valley. The track is a summery House tune that shines with Garage vocals and warm synth pads. Steve Kasper is slowing it down with “Unvexed Dub” which is an immersed House excursion for the morning hours. On the flipside Scherbe’s ‘Kill Bill$’ stumbles but does not fall. Instead, the track lives from tottering interaction between bright percussions and fractious drones below. Finally, it’s Jacob Stoy who closes the record with ‘S51′, a dreamy Deep House study including heavenly pads and subtle drum programming.

For the artwork we are very glad to welcome back Paul Waak and his colourful figures that gave the first four compilations their unique look!
