Okay, this UV Funk show is totally not-to-be-missed material. It is dedicated to the hidden treasures from former Yugoslavia. Due to the Western-centric coverage of pop music’s history it is easy to miss some of this awesome music that ranges from obscure Boogie records to cosmic synth epics. To unearth these beauties via their Discom-label is the purpose of Belgrade-based music aficionados Luka Novakovic and Vanja Todorovic. After putting out the re-release of Boban Petrovic “Zora”-LP under the now-defunkt Disco not Disco imprint, Luka and Vanja started Discom. So far, they’ve released four LPs, among them an excellent compilation called “Yugoslavian Space Program” that brought together synth and Kraut masterpieces from a time period spanning the years between 1981 and 2015. Only recently they released the album “Sidarta” from the experimental/ jazz fusion collective 37°C.

But if you listen to this mix they’ve put together for UV Funk it seems as if these releases were just the tip of the iceberg. Happy digging!
